The Company / Role 
Global leading Tier1 vendor in the Insurance space - blue chip clients in Sydney- market leader. 

The role is for a Technical Consultant who will be responsible for delivering high quality solutions in a technically challenging landscape, and to industry best practice. This is not a pure "Consulting" role - it requires an aptitude for considering the bigger picture, the knowledge to consider all options, the innovation to select the best solution, and the determination to take the solution to completion. Looking for someone who is looking to take the next step in their career with a great attitude to learn and deliver.

Key Role Activities
  • Participate in the full SDLC from requirements elicitation, thru analyses and design to delivery of custom components of the solution
  • Participate in the creation and review of estimates around technical aspects of the solution
  • Produce quality documentation to support the design and development process
  • Manage the delivery of individual solution components within a project
  • Ensure all aspects of good design and construction are adhered to, including:  Performance, scalability and security and modularity, interoperability and upgradability
  • Work with the project team and with peers in the client organisation to ensure successful delivery
  • Work closely with Solution Architects for direction and compliance
  • Identify and capture areas for improvement/innovation within the technical consultancy practice
  • Develop an understanding and knowledge of insurance and our customer
Required Skills & Experience
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics/Statistics/Sciences (or related) disciplines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong negotiation skills
  • A proven ability to deliver without direct supervision
  • Strong analysis, design & solutioning skills
  • Proven ability in solving complex technical problems
  • Comfortable working under pressure
  • Java and JEE technologies such as JSP, JDBC, JNDI
  • Java Web Development Frameworks (e.g. ADF/JSF, Struts, Spring MVC)
  • Relational databases: DB2, Oracle, SQL Server
  • Development Tools: Ant, Gradle, Jenkins, JUnit, Eclipse, Subversion
  • Experience of integration development in a multi-tier environment including knowledge of protocols and standards (e.g. SOAP, REST and WS-* standards)
  • Practical working experience of Agile methodologies
  • Experience of working in a vendor and Insurance environment would be an advantage
