The Systems and Data Team at this Federal agency requires a Data Analyst who specializes in Microsoft Power BI and who also possesses strong business analysis, documentation, communication, engagement and self-management skills.

Power BI Consultant 

Responsible for driving the user engagement of a data warehouse and reporting solution through Power BI.
Communicate, engage and support other business areas in the use of Power BI;

promote the general upskilling of generalist, non-specialist users in data use through Power BI.

Translate complex technical concepts into language that non-technical users can easily understand.

Deliver training documentation, demonstration sessions across the cluster and develop resources as appropriate.
Develop various business and technical documents and artefacts for the solution such as project management and business requirements documents and data dictionaries.

Identify and resolve data issues with IT and/or business areas.

Essential skills and experience  
  • Three years plus demonstrated experience in Business Intelligence and data analyst work.
  • Strong business analysis and problem solving skills.
  • Well developed communication skills and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • Background in business intelligence implementation and multiple system support with experience in analysing business intelligence solutions across multiple functions.
  • Experience with business intelligence tools ie(Stack SSIS, SSAS &SSRS), Microsoft Power BI (with particular emphasis on Power BI Desktop [August 2018 or newer], Power BI Report Server and Power BI Service), hardware, software and services vendors.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of change management.
  • Self-driven to progress the project under limited direction.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into language that non-technical users can easily understand.
  • Demonstrate strong abilities in data modelling, working with SQL Server databases and SQL Server Analysis Cubes, and developing custom relational and dimensional models.
  • An understanding of data privacy issues and cloud-related privacy.

What are the working arrangements?

  From 9.00 am to 5.00 pm on a Business Day, unless specified otherwise.
Maximum of 40 hours per week unless given prior approval by the relevant Branch Manager.

Reduced activity period - Public holidays and Christmas closedown period.

Is security clearance required?   The minimum security clearance level for this particular position is: Baseline (mandatory).
