IT Project Manager

Our Client, NSW Government is seeking to appoint an IT Project Manager for an initial 12 month contract engagement with extension opportunities on a program of work running until June 2022.

The Department is going through an Audio Visual implementation / uplift across 70 sites throughout Sydney and regional NSW Locations and the successful IT Project Manager will work within an existing team to manage and deliver the solution.

Travel to Sydney and regional NSW locations is a requirement of this role so please bear that in mind before applying.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Plan and deliver several Audio Visual Link implementations across metropolitan and regional locations within an aggressive schedule
  • Support and direct a small team of Technical Analysts
  • Manage project financials, risks, issues, actions, dependencies and decisions
  • Scheduling of works across several locations
  • Balance resource requirements across several locations
  • Continuous improvement of the approach
  • Monitor and report on project progress
  • Present to stakeholders reports on progress as well as problems and solutions
  • Ensure adherence to departmental processes, policies and standards
  • Implement and manage change when necessary to meet project outputs
  • Evaluate and assess result of project
Key Challenges:
  • Maintain a high standard of partnerships with business stakeholders across a number of departments and locations ensuring they are informed of planning, progress and exceptions
  • Foster effective working relationships with external installation vendors and internal technical teams
  • Management of e2e time critical procurement activities with internal procurement teams
  • Creating and maintenance of an implementation schedule
  • Management of defects to resolution across several locations and multiple installation vendors
Selection criteria:
  • Australian citizenship or permanent residency essential
  • Comfortable Travelling to various sites across Sydney and Regional NSW locations
  • Experience with site implementations with external vendors
  • Experience rolling out Audio Visual solutions at Enterprise scale highly regarded
  • Previous experience working within private sector as well as government
  • Project Management certification or equivalent awareness/experience (e.g. PRINCE2 Practitioner, PMP, etc)
  • Reliable, self-motivated individual that actively takes the initiative with an ability to work autonomously
  • Effective problem solver with a mix of analytical and creative thinking
  • Theoretical and practical project management knowledge
  • Proficiency in Project management software/tools
  • Experience with risk and change management
