Domain Architect

The Domain Architect is responsible for ensuring that business, application, information and technology perspectives are in line with our client’s strategies, policies and standards for an assigned digital domain. The role is responsible for the creation, maintenance and management of enterprise architecture artefacts covering aspects of business architecture, application architecture, information architecture and technology architecture.

The Domain Architect is expected to ensure user experience, accessibility, security and quality considerations are an integral part of our client's Business and IT processes and practices in new implementations and operations


Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide architecture and strategy consulting services to senior business stakeholders, understand business objectives and current architecture state and design transition architecture states.
  • Build relationships with senior business stakeholders across divisions and build a consensus for direction and solutions and obtain buy-in.
  • Develop capability, business reference and data models for assigned domain.
  • Represent the assigned domain at Architectural Governance forums.
  • Reduce technology duplication
  • Develop and promote guidelines for the use of technologies within the assigned domain
  • Work to reduce technology duplication, technical complexity and technical debt.
  • Develop and ensure adoption of technical standards & patterns within the assigned domain.

Requirements: 


  • Extensive leadership experience working in large IT teams within complex organisational environments, and in leading highly strategic and transformational IT and business initiatives
  • Understanding of tools and technologies including the unique research requirements, challenges and emerging trends.
  • Understanding of the landscape in terms of key players and best practices
  • Ability to collaborate with both non-technical and technical teams and demonstratable experience in documenting “As-is” / “Future” IT architecture states and Transitional Roadmaps
  • Experience in using architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, ZACHMANN
  • Ability to prioritise their time as they will work on multiple pieces of work concurrently
  • Results driven and adaptable, skilled at choosing appropriate solutions to complex business problems
  • Ability to provide technical/thought leadership in the IT architecture space
  • Ability to create high quality architecture documents that can be easily understood by all stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, group presentation and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to write and deliver succinct business proposals and plans
  • Knowledge of the education regulatory environment and the ability to contribute to internal and external policy development discussions
  • Strong knowledge of the latest in Information Technology and good practices
  • Modern software development languages, approaches, and frameworks
  • Solid understanding of disaster recovery and high availability architectures
  • Solid understanding of IT security concepts and practices
  • Solid understanding of change management and other ITIL processes
